Wednesday is considered either the third or the fourth day of the week, between Tuesday and Thursday. The name comes from the Middle English Wednes dei, which is from Old English Wodnes dæg, meaning the day of the Germanic god Woden (Wodan) who was a god of the Anglo-Saxons in England until about the 7th century. Wodnes dæg is like the Old Norse Oðinsdagr ("Odin's day"), which is an early translation of the Latin dies Mercurii ("Mercury's day"). Although Mercury (the messenger of the gods) and Woden (the king of the Germanic gods) are not equivalent in most regards, both gods guided the souls of the dead to the underworld.

Signing Up

When you visit us, on any page you will see a blueish horizontal bar along the upper portion of the web page. Looking there you should see the text "You are not logged in Login | Sign Up." Click "Sign Up" and you will be taken to the next page.

Once there, read the notice about Microsoft. We do this because in order to complete your sign up we must be able to send you your confirmation email that contains your default password. We will also use your email address to send billing and other important information to you. It is recommended that you use the email address from your ISP or get another free email account from Google's Gmail.

Now click "Next." When the page displays, you will see the Terms of Agreement. You should read this information and become familiar with it. For those who don't want to read it -- we know it's a pain -- essentially it says that you can't use your account for any illegal purpose, that you can't use your account to spam other's email, or use it for any other activities that are "questionable." Common sense is a big help here. But there is no substitute for reading them first hand. Do it now and get it over with. Read it.

Okay, now that you've read it (you did read it, right?) decide if you agree to the terms. If you disagree, our journey together has probably come to an end. Although you are still welcome to continue reading along if you are morbidly curious.

If you do agree, and we're certainly glad you do, click "Agree," and we'll move on to the next step. On this next page select your country from the drop-down list. If your country is not in the list, use the "Let Us Know" link to submit an email request to our developers. Include as much information as you can about the provinces, states, etc. for you country as well as how properly formatted postal codes appear.

Assuming this step was a success, click "Submit Country." Here you Will be presented with another drop-down list that you can use to select your state, province, or county. Once you have done that, click "Submit" and we'll move on to the next step.

Now it's time to enter some personal information, if you read the Terms of Agreement, you know that we do not use your personal information for any purpose external to GaltGroup, and that we do not give your personal details to any third party for any reason, excepting a court order within the Dominion of Canada.

First you are asked to select a user name. A user name is a unique name that is used to identify you on our network, and will be used to construct your GaltGroup email address. If, for example your real name is Bob Lawblaw, you might choose bahblabla as your user name. In this case your email address at GaltGroup would be bahblabla@galtgroup.net.

Your user name doesn't need to be related to your real name in any way, and you can choose to make it whatever you want, as long as it isn't already being used by another member of GaltGroup. The form will return an error to let you know if the user name is already in use, and you will asked to choose another.

Next you will need to enter your contact email twice, this is the email address we will use to send you your information when the sign up process is complete. The email address given to you by your ISP, or a free email account you may have from Yahoo! or Gmail will do fine here.

Now it's simply a matter of entering your name and address, and you're all set to go. When ready, click "Submit Information" and you will be whisked away to a new screen where a final summary of the data you entered awaits. Look it over and verify that everything is correct, if you need to go back and fix something that's fine, I'll wait here for you.

Once you are sure all the information is correct, and you are satisfied with your choices, click "Complete Sign Up" and after a few moments you should be given a big thumbs up, and then redirected to the login page.

Now you will need to check your email at the address you gave while signing up. In that email you will find your user name and password. Copy and paste them into the corresponding fields in the login form, and if you hate typing in your user name and password each time you visit, you can check the box next to "Remember me when I visit from this computer." You will need to have cookies set in your browser (most do by default) for this to work. You will then be automatically logged in upon each visit. You will still have the option at any time to Log Out from the link that is displayed in the blue status bar when you are logged in.

Now click "Login." If all went well you should see that the blue status bar along the top of the screen indicates that you are logged in, and two new items should be visible in the left hand menu: "Member Profile" and "Account Settings" if that is true, you have successfully signed up with us.

Finally, click "Profile" from the left-hand menu. This will take you to your profile where you can change your contact email, mailing address, and password.

Congratulations, you have successfully signed up with us and logged in for the first time.

Thank you for choosing to join us at GaltGroup.
